Our recent family trip to Costa Rica was an unforgettable adventure filled with stunning landscapes, thrilling activities, and wonderful wildlife encounters. We traveled with two other families, making it an even more fun experience. Everything was set up for us through the wonderful people at the Tulemar Resort!

We stayed in the city of Quepos, where we rented an amazing house that was in the middle of the forrest and offered incredible views. One of the highlights of our rental was our resident sloth, who hung out just outside the house. We named him Sammy lol. The house itself was incredible and had plenty of room for the 10 of us. Our first big activity was an ATV tour that took us deep into the rainforest. This tour was an exciting way to experience Costa Rica's natural beauty up close. We rode through rugged terrain and lush greenery, eventually reaching a spot where we took a break for some fresh pineapple and began our hike to a breathtaking waterfall, where we could cool off and take in its beauty. The water was on the cold side but it felt great. I had so much energy after, made me understand why Rick likes to do the cold plunge at the gym!

The next adventure on our list was white water rafting on the Savegre River. The rapids provided just the right mix of excitement and challenge, and navigating them was an exhilarating experience for all. Savegre means savage and some of those rapids confirmed its name! It was a level 3 ride and I think thats probably my limit! We stopped at a gorgeous waterfall where we all took photos and cooled off. We ate some more pineapple and then got back in the boats to finish the ride down river.

On the last day, while the boys went on a fishing charter, the girls stayed back for in villa massages. The boys were almost shut out but did come away with a rooster fish. Our massages were excellent and were much needed after all of our adventures.

Our wildlife encounters didn't end with the sloth. Throughout our stay, we saw a variety of exotic animals, including colorful toucans and playful monkeys. Each sighting was a reminder of Costa Rica's rich biodiversity and added special memories to our trip. Unfortunately we weren’t fast enough to get many pictures, but they will stay in our memories forever!

Every restaurant experience we had was great. My favorite was El Avion for the overall experience, but each one was great in their own way. Ronny’s Place had live entertainment and was on the nicer side and Quepoa Restaurant had a more open air, sports bar vibe. It had corn hole and jenga for the kids to play. On our last night, we treated ourselves to a private culinary experience. We had a private chef come to the house and cook a delicious meal for us. This was a perfect way to end our adventure-filled trip, enjoying dinner in the comfort of our beautiful rental house.

Overall, our trip to Costa Rica was filled with adventure, relaxation, and plenty of wonderful memories. We highly recommend visiting this incredible country for anyone looking for a perfect blend of nature and adventure! From Fort Lauderdale it was an easy 2.5 hr flight. We will definitely be going back. I’d like to go see the Arenal Volcano next time! Have you been to Costa Rica? Where have you stayed? Give me all the details!

I’ve added our itinerary below. If you would like to contact our rental hosts/concierge to get more info on our rental, contact Jules at Jules@tulemar.com Make sure you tell them I sent you! Pura Vida!
